Badgoi Pass – An Adventurous Road Journey

badgoi pass

Pakistan has various beautiful road passes and one of them is Badgoi Pass. The Badgoi Pass connects the spectacular valleys of Kumrat in Upper Dir and Utror in Swat, and it is the quickest route between the two picturesque districts.

This Pass connects Swat from Dir as it is also the border area of both valleys. It remains the favorite track of adventure lovers.

Jahaz Banda, Kund Banda, Katora Lake, Kumrat Valley are on Thall side of Badgoi Pass. The other side consists of beautiful areas of Shahi Bagh, Kandol Lake, Mahodand Lake, and many more lakes.

If you are more of a visual person, then please watch the following video, which summarizes my trip to Badgoi Pass:

The beauty of Badgoi Top

The natural beauty of Badawi Pass is supreme and also catches your heart. The Pass gives easy and shortest access between the two valleys and offers some dazzling scenes to tourists.

The lush green meadows and relaxed atmosphere make the area around it a peaceful place. The natural beauty and pleasant weather are captivating and delightful. The beautiful landscape of the Pass is a memory to admire ever.

This Pass is famous due to its beautiful scenes. This passage has become a beautiful path for tourists who visit Kumrat. I chose this Pass while crossing from Thal to Kalam.

Track of Badgoi Pass

The whole track of Badagoi consists of rocks. There are small fountains in the way. The bumpy road to the summit, also known as Do Teer Pass, is unpaved. It’s also called as Utror-Dir Road and Badgoi Top.

The route of the Pass is usually closed from October to June (weather permitting). So be alert; this road is not for the ill-prepared. The Pass links Upper Dir District and Utror & Kalam.

It is a fabulous trail for experienced wheelers. Avoid driving in this region if off-road mountain tracks aren’t your strong point. The top of the Pass, headed by the two-faced hill, offers scenic views of the Swat and Dir Kohistan sides. 4×4 vehicle with high clearance required. Stay away if you’re scared of heights.

There are many tuck shops in the way of Badgoi Pass. From Dasht Laila’s viewpoint, one can view the scenes of nearby valleys. I met teachers who came from Dir to visit this area. They hosted me for lunch.

The distance of Badawi pass from Kalam

I enjoyed the whole journey due to its beautiful scenes. It takes three hours to reach Utror, Kalam, to Kumrat through the 35-kilometer Badgoi Pass. However, the distance of Badgoi from Thall is 26 kilometers, and there is less steep from this side. Therefore, one can reach the top in a short time.

Weather

The locals use Badgoi Pass to travel. It is now a busy route for tourists who travel between Utror and Kumrat Valley. The weather at Badgoi Pass is unpredictable, and the track of Badgoi remains open from June to October.

However, the Pass remains blocked from October to June due to heavy snowfall. So if you ever visit Kumrat or Kalam, do cross this incredible Badgoi Pass.
