Jarogo Waterfall is one of the highest waterfalls in Pakistan. Swat is famous for its scenic places and tourist resorts. However, still, there are many spectacular places in the valley, from thick, majestic forests to mysterious lakes and waterfalls, which are unexplored and one of them is jarogo.
Meaning of Jarogo Waterfall
The word Jarogo means broom in the Pashto language. Its history relates to the early times of the Hindu Shahi era in Swat. Long ago, a Hindu woman, Jarogai, was widely known and esteemed in the surrounding areas, so the people named it after her.
Another story relates that women of the nearby areas come to collect the straws from this area which is named Jarogo.
If you are more of a visual person, then please watch the following video, which summarizes my trip to Jarogo Waterfall:
Trek of Jarogai Waterfall
Nestled deep between the two gigantic mountains, the waterfall is reached by a snaking river with lush forests on both sides. It symbolizes the mystic serenity of the wild beauty of high mountains and dense forests.
A perfect combination of fascinating flora and fauna, the area is unknown to the outer world. And whosoever befalls to get there is held amazed by its magnificence.
Very few residents have heard about it or have found the opportunity to see it. The water falling down the waterfall covers more than 120 meters, providing visitors with a blissful experience.
Not only the location but the twisting track of the waterfall, the mesmerizing flow of crystal clear water, and the chirping of birds in big pine trees also fascinate visitors.
How to Reach Jarogo Waterfall
There is a paved road to the parking area of the waterfall from where the hike starts. I came here in late July with my wife and son. The trek starts by passing through the jungle, and it continues along with a small lake. The hike of jarogo is relatively easy, and at some points, the path is guided by the arrows.
My son Abdur rafay palwa also walked in some areas during the track. The trek of jarogo waterfalls is so beautiful that one cannot estimate the passing of time. However, we completed the hike in almost one and a half hours.
There are two waterfalls in jarogo. One is the main waterfall of Jarogo Valley, with a massive flow of water. The main waterfall is between the two mountains and covers an area of more than 120 meters. Next to it is the small waterfall. The tourists are coming here in large numbers.
There is a temporary hotel where one can have a cup of tea and biscuits. A beautiful meadow is also at the top of the waterfall. The best season to come here is from June to September. In winter, the water in the fall is relatively low.
Swat to Jarogo Waterfall Distance
Jarogo waterfall in the Chatekal Valley of Matta tehsil is 55 kilometers from Mingora towards the northwest. Located a few kilometers from biha village, dense woods, and lush green meadows surround it.
